Maalstrom & Freya, Meet

CD No Masters 2010 - NMCD 36

Jo Freya meets the Dutch group Maalstroom at the Musicport Festival in 2008. The collaboration is continuing until today and, in 2010, the musicians decide to record an album in Philip Masure’s studio in Belgium. The album is varied and among the compositions has to be pointed out "Green Grow the Rushes Oh", a Scottish song that was collected by Robert Burns. Jo has decided to dedicate it to his father who was a native of Glasgow. The disc presents also a beautiful cover photograph by the clarinettist Michel Duijves. The design  is the work of Herman Rienstra  and the other photographs the one of Ineke Oostveen.

Jo Freya incontra il gruppo belga Maalstrom in occasione del Musicport Festival del 2008. La collaborazione continuerà fino al 2010, quando i musicisti decidono di entrare nella sala di registrazione di Philip Masure in Belgio. L’album è assai vario e tra le composizioni si distingue “Green Grow the Rushes Oh”, una canzone scozzese raccolta da Robert Burns. Jo ha pensato di dedicarla a suo padre che era nativo di Glasgow. Il disco ha inoltre una bella fotografia di copertina opera del clarinettista Michel Duijves. Le fotografie sono di Herman Rienstra.
