Secondo album acustico di Richard Thompson con copertina disegnata da Ben Bowdler. Anche in questo caso ci troviamo di fronte a un lavoro molto intenso e pregevole che trova massima espressione negli arrangiamenti di "Never again" e "Oush and shove". Tutti i pezzi sono di Richard ad eccezione di "Sloth" e "Poor will and the jolly hangman", composte con Dave Swarbrick. la produzione anche in questo caso è di Simon Tassano, autore del mix, la masterizzazione è invece opera di Andrew Mendelson.L'album è pubblicato anche come doppio cd "Acoustic classic II + rarities".
